Individual Therapy
Service Description
Whether you are coming in for depression, anxiety, self-esteem problems, trauma, grief/loss or work-related stress, the goal of individual therapy is to understand yourself and work through your feelings differently than you have before. We all have different facets of ourselves, some of them we're comfortable with and others, we try to push away. When we try to push the "unacceptable" parts away, we end up experiencing frustration, anxiety, and depression, and at times, a deep sense of emptiness or loneliness. Treatment in therapy centers around not only deeper understanding all of these aspects of yourself, but also an acceptance and curiosity of all these parts. "If you try to just give honest, intuitive answers [to the question, who are you?], you are simply going to say, 'Me. It's me, I'm in here experiencing all of this.' That's about the best answer you'll have (Singer, 2007)." Once you can get there, it is similar to the clearing of your mind in what felt like a dark space before.
